Shawn Mesa was admitted as a lawyer to the Florida Bar in 1999 by the Florida Supreme Court after graduating from South Texas College of Law as a Doctor of Jurisprudence in the same year. He is also admitted to the US Middle District of Florida as well as the US Southern District of Florida.
He focuses on immigration law because of his family history. His grandfather moved his family from Cuba to the United States a couple of years prior to the Cuban Revolution because of government threats to his well-being.
He is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and Hillsborough County Bar Association. He is native to Tampa, Florida and besides being a lawyer he is a National-Level Judo Coach certified by the U.S. Olympic governing body, USA Judo. He also coaches locally for the Florida School of Judo and Metropolitan YMCA’s.
